About Sammy Adebiyi
My name is Sammy and I was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. Although I didn’t have lions and giraffes in my backyard like most people assume, I did own a pet monkey in high school.
Rather than follow Gods early call on his life, I decided I would rather be a superhero [true story], but my life took a big turn when my mom, apparently uninspired by my desire to wear tights and save the world, randomly came home with a plane ticket to the US. Within 48 hours, I went from eating potato chips on my couch in Nigeria to standing in New York city with $2000 in cash, an unlikely dream and an accent strong enough to give anyone a migraine.
By fall of 1999, I gave up my quest to become a crime fighting machine to follow Gods call on my life. My passion to communicate Gods word became so intense and ‘uncontainable’ that I spent several hours every week preaching to my bedroom furniture.
In March 2008, I teamed up with Sanctus Real, 10th Avenue North and VOTA on the ‘We Need Each Other’ tour. I challenged audiences around the country to join a Mocha Club campaign to bring clean water to Africa. Thousands of people jumped in and provided clean water for 70,000 Africans.
I went on the road again in the spring of 2010 with Sanctus Real, Addison Road, Above The Golden State and Me In Motion. 7 months later, I hit the road with Hawk Nelson, Brit Nicole, Revive and John Reuben in the fall of 2010.
Someone really nice once said “His crazy dreads, unique journey, passion for students and great storytelling are just a few of the many things that make Sammy a unique and relevant communicator”. I would also add “I have mad skills in Halo and Madden but unfortunately I am just an average guitar hero”.
I’m a national speaker for the mocha club and also currently the Young Adult Pastor at North Point Church of Toledo, OH.
I hope my marriage to Ashley is an inspiration to those wishing to marry outside of their league.
My wife and I just adopted our first child, bebe, from haiti.

THE BLOG
Thanks for checking out my blog. It is mostly focused on my obsession with the unfathomable greatness of God.
If God is as great as the bible says he is, then it changes everything. Everything.
My goal is to creatively write posts that reflect glimpses of Gods glory in ways that are tangible enough to spill out to your everyday life. If you love awe, wonder and stories mixed with humor, then this blog is for you.
I hope to put my arm around you and make you laugh while I seriously challenge your views on God and life. But this blog isn’t just about me, it’s about you. I love dialogue and there’s nothing more exciting to me than hearing from you in the comments so please jump in.
I typically try to post about three to four times a week. To make sure you don’t miss out on new posts, please subscribe to the blog here.
If you are new to my blog, I recommend starting out with my top posts listed here.
The posts on this site are my own personal opinions. They are not read or approved by Northpoint Church before posting and do not necessarily represent the views and opinions of Northpoint Church.
