Does God want us to be healed all or some of the time?

Jul 31 2011

If you haven’t noticed, I try to create space for 'open' dialogue on Sundays.

The idea is to ask a question without giving away where I stand.

Although you might be able to pick up what 'camp' I'm in through my responses in the comments section, the hope is, keeping the content open allows you to more freely share your thoughts.

To be honest, I kind of stumbled upon this idea when I randomly asked if 'non-Christians can be in a worship band'. After that dialogue blew up, we tackled a question I've been asked a lot: 'Is masturbation sin?'...

Our last swing was asking 'if my friend should have punched back when a guy randomly hit him in the face'.

Today, I wanna ask what you believe about Jesus and physical healing.

For sake of focusing our dialogue, lets ‘assume’ we all believe God still heals today. [If you disagree, perhaps we can talk about that some other time].

Also, I want to say I know a lot of strong, theologically-sound, Jesus-loving Christians who stand strongly on both sides so lets all take a deep breath. smiley

Now having said that, there are two sides to the issue. Maybe even three?

Some believe that God always wants us to be healed no questions asked.
If we are not healed it might be because; we don’t believe, its not time e.t.c. e.t.c

Others believe that God sometimes wants us to be healed.
If we are not healed, it might be because; it brings Jesus glory, its a consequence of sin e.t.c e.t.c

Alright. Lets go. What do you think? What are your thoughts on physical healing? How should we pray for healing?

Does God want us to be healed all the time or some of the time?

My goal on these Sunday dialogues is not to simply stir the pot up [cause that's dumb] but rather to create a culture where Christians can learn and challenge each others world-view in a healthy way. So play nice but PLEASE share your thoughts.
