Interview with an Angel Part 2

Below is a transcript of a real conversation I had with Angels.

By ‘real’ I mean ‘sort of real’ and by ‘sort of real’ I mean ‘completely unreal’. I am ‘S’, the angels are 'A1' and 'A2. Enjoy.

A1: BOO...

S: Whoa. Dude. Stop sneaking up on me like that.

A1: Ha Ha. Sorry. Can't help it. But thanks for the 20 though.

S: What 20?

A1: The one Gabe owes me cause I bet him you'd pee your pants a little when I said boo.

S: Dude, not cool. You're an angel, You're not supposed to gamble. And tell Gabe thankS for the vote of confidence.

A1: Why don't you tell him yourself in 3, 2...

S: Wait, what?

A1: 1.

A2: BOO!!!

S: Ah!

A1: BAHAHAHAHAHA.

S: What is it with you guys scaring people? Not funny.

A2: Yea it is. Just ask all the thousands of angels who are LOL-ing right now.

S: Yea, sure. Angels in heaven laughing at people. That's biblical. *Insert sarcastic smirk*

A2: What? you people don't think God has a sense of humor? cause he does.

S: Did you just say 'you people'? What do you mean 'you people'? Wait, I just noticed something... unlike the last time, there are two of you today. Now I'm scared.

A1: You know It's not always the “hammer” when God sends you a message.

S: So two angels is good?

A2: Yes. Think of it like Good cop bad cop.

A1: Don't listen to Gabe. It's nothing like that. But we do have good news and bad news. What do you want first?

S: Oh boy. Let me have it. Bad first. 

A1: You are not very courageous.

S: Wow. Way to rip out the bandage.

A2: Sorry but the truth hurts.

S: Sure does, especially when it's not completely true.

A1: Come on Sambo, we both know it's true. You don’t really have a lot of courage.

S: But...

A2: When was the last time you did something because you were believing God for something impossible?

S: Well, I'm sure there are plenty of times. Just the other day, I said...

A1: God glorify yourself in a huge way? That's nice. But we both know what you were doing.

S: What do u mean?

A1: You were using prayer as a cover for your lack of faith and courage.

S: Are you saying It's bad to pray to God?

A2: No. Of course not. I'm just trying to show you what's beneath your "spiritual" prayers.

S: What?

A1: Fear.

S: Yea?

A1: Yea. Fear. It's a lot easier to say God be glorified than it is to write a check only God can cash.

A2: For instance, you can say God change my neighbors heart and never do anything or you can pray then go invite them to church.

A1: One requires courage. The other is a safety net that makes you sound super spiritual without doing anything. See the difference?

S: Yes but what do I do?

A1: Be courageous.

S: Great. Just show me the 'more courage-less fear' switch and I'll flip it.

A2: You know it doesn't work that way.

S: So you can't help me? Surely you've didn't just come here to make me feel guilty about something I can't do anything about.

A2: No I didn't and don't call me Surely.

S: Nice. Angel Gabriel made a funny. But for real, can you please tell me how to get rid of my fear so I can be courageous?

A2: No dude, I can't. But that's the good news. 

S: What?

A1: Courage. It's not the ability to get rid of fear. Courage is the ability to act in spite of fear.

A2: In other words, the question is not are you afraid. The question is, will you 'go' and 'do' even though you’re scared?

S: But what if I fail? What if it doesn’t work out?

A1: You know what Sammy. You’re right. It might not work out. In fact if you start being more courageous, I guarantee you’ll fail a lot. But here’s what I’ll also guarantee, you’ll see God do more through you than you ever imagined.

You trust Jesus Sammy, and he will blow your mind. Trust me, we’ve seen it first hand. Over and over and over again. He never ever fails.

*Silence*

S: Are you crying?

A2: Sammy... Sammy... I know you’re scared buddy. I know. But if only you saw a fraction of what we see. If only you knew how incredible huge this God was. If only you knew the strength, splendor and majesty of the one who sends you.

S: Okay, now I’m getting jacked up. Where do I start?

A1: Let me ask you a question. What would you actually act on tomorrow if you were convinced that God, the creator of the universe was with you and for you?!

S: Oh man.. I would...

A1: Yea... start there.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31).
