Bwahahahahaha, LOL, Peter that’s hilarious -Jesus (Message paraphrase).

No, that’s not really a real verse. I’m just joshing you. But let me ask you a serious question.

Have you ever pictured Jesus laughing? Not smiling.

I’m talking belly ache, roll on the floor, crazy snorting, tears in eye, chocking on spit laughter. Can you see Jesus like that?

A little hard isn’t it? But should it?

I mean, think about it, if all things were created by Jesus (Colossians 1:16) and if he knit us together in our mothers womb (Psalm 139), then he was responsible for humor.

He wired us to ‘make spontaneous sounds and movements of the face and body that are the instinctive expressions of lively amusement’ (definition of laughter).

Laughter was Jesus’s idea. So technically speaking, Jesus was the first one to make a funny. And in light of those things, I believe that laughter can actually be worship.

The funny thing is (see what I just did there?), we think the closer we get to Jesus, the more uptight we become.

Super spiritual people are supposed to walk around staring into the clouds with a glazed look on their faces cause they are focused on heavenly things right?

No. Not always.

Yes, God is to be feared, revered and respected. But remember that in his presence is also the fullness of joy, pleasure and lots of laughter.

Last week we said sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is nap, well, other times, the most spiritual thing you can do is laugh.

Anyways, the challenge today is simple. Laugh. Let's worship and glorify God as a community by laughing. This weekend, make it a priority to allow yourself to be in situations that will make you laugh.

I’ve embedded a video of a comedian named Brian Regan to get us going. Saw him live once and I’ve never laughed so hard in my life. The guy is just hilarious. God def gave him the funny gene.
