Miracle.
Are you pregnant?
Is this the most dangerous question in the world for a man to ask a woman?
I think so.
Actually, I thought so, until my wife got pregnant and like 10 men asked her if she was pregnant. No joke. And this was when she was barely showing!
Isn’t the rule of thumb don’t ever ask?... like ever!
For real, men, unless the woman is in labor, don’t ask. Even then, make sure a child is actually coming out of her already.
Apparently some people didn’t get that memo.
The craziest one was when the check-out employee at Wal-mart asked when Ashley was due because he noticed a post-it note in her wallet that said babies R us.
Ladies and gentlemen, meet the perfect combination of creep, snoop and lack of tact.
I keep telling my wife to respond one time by saying 'I have no idea what you're talking about' just to see what they say, but she won't cause she's too nice.
I would, but unfortunately fortunately I haven't been around for any of these foot-in-mouth moments, just the great ones like last night.
Do you mind if I touch your wife’s belly and pray over your baby?
Normally this would be a weird request but since it was someone I really trusted and she seemed to genuinely want to pray for our baby, I said yes.
So, she laid her hands on the baby and started praying.
Then all of sudden, she started praising God.
Then she started crying.
What a miracle! Wow God! How amazing! This is incredible Jesus! You’re so awesome! There’s a human being growing in this belly?! What a miracle!!!
More tears of joy. More praise.
Man, I can’t tell you how refreshing it was to see awe inspired by something so common.
Pregnancies happen all the time. Everyday, all over the world. No big deal right?
WRONG.
A human being in growing is another human beings stomach? Un-believable. Seriously.
Say that again to yourself but this time slowly and really think about what you’re saying.
A human being is growing in another human being's stomach?
Oh my God! Literally.
Amazing. Incredible. Mind-blowing. Miracle.
I think it’s funny that people ask why God still doesn’t do crazy miracles like in the 'bible days'.
People, he does. Everyday.
You are literally surrounded by extraordinary displays of Gods greatness and creativity. The earth is full of his glory. There are enough miracles in common places around you to send you into a tail-spin of exuberant worship and awe for hours.
The question is, do you see it?
Can you see the extraordinary display of Gods glory in the midst of the ordinary common place?
Here’s my challenge today. I want you to pause long enough to notice a miracle in a common place then share it. Think air is amazing? In awe that God created the color pink?
I don’t care how silly it sounds. Don’t hold back. Let’s fill this space with praises of Gods glory by talking about the many miracles that surround us daily. So...
Where do you see a miracle today?
