Someone wants your grubs.

'The grass is greener'.

That's for sure.

Somewhere between the last fall and spring, a plague of grubs was unleashed on my front yard. I think its natures judgement on me for making fun of 'crazy flag lady' a week ago.

I'm kidding.

But for real, my front lawn looks like the patchy, sun-burnt head of a bald guy with a terrible comb-over...

In fact I'm pretty sure if you went on Google earth right now and you hovered over North America, you'd see the big brown spot that's my front lawn.

It. Is. Bad.

And to make matters worse, my neighbor has perfect lush grass. The kind that we'll have in heaven. The kind that you have to take your shoes off for before walking on it. The kind that makes you want to hug a puppy.

His grass is definitely greener.

But you know what's interesting?

Some homeless dude walking the streets of Toledo right now wants my yard. As a matter of fact, my terrible, balding, grub cursed lawn would be a dream come true for him because that means he has a house.

You see where I'm going with this?

I'm not saying the grass isn't greener or you have nothing to gripe about. I'm just saying before you start complaining, you might want to step back and think about that man or woman who wants your 'grubs'.

Think of that person who dreams, prays and hopes for your ‘nuisance’. Remember that...

  • Some barren couple out there wants your messy kids.

  • An underground church in China would do anything to be led by your crappy worship pastor.
  • Many Africans will gladly trade their $2 a day farming job for your cubicle.
  • Someone wishes they could take the trash out for your wife.
  • Your out of fashion clothes is a Haitian orphans best clothing.
  • An estranged son or daughter would gladly be in the company of your messed up family and go on all your crappy vacations.
  • Millions of uneducated adults would be more than thrilled to sit through your boring college classes.
  • Someone wishes they could still forgive their dad... etc, etc, etc.

You see what I'm talking about?

My neighbors grass is greener but at least I have grass.
.
Raising a 13 year old is hard until I remember all the parents who have been waiting for years to bring their kids home.

Your turn to be honest.

What is something you hate or have a tendency to complain/gripe about that could be someone else's dream?
