Stop acting like you're not good at anything...
What are you good at?
Its a simple question but answering it feels like I’m undergoing a root canal on a roller coaster while my elbows are sitting in boiling grease. Painful!
Its not because I don’t know what I’m good at but because I always thought acting like I wasn’t so confident about what I was good at was the humble thing to do.
I’m starting to realize that acting like i’m not good at anything is just that, acting. Its not humility.
Humility is not about dodging what God has entrusted to you. Its rather about keeping it in perspective. Its about remembering that its for HIS glory. Its about serving people.
But until you acknowledge what God has given you [what you are good at], how will we truly glorify him or serve people with that gift?
Listen, If you ignore what God has given you, you’re not being humble, you’re being irresponsible.
I know there are a lot of 'drive-thru' readers on this blog but this is one dialogue I'd really challenge you to jump in on because I think the reason we sometimes act like we're not really good at something/anything is because it opens us up to accountability.
If I admit that I'm good at this and people know that I am then I have to do something with it, so we hide under the guise of humility, and everyone loses. You lose. Your community that needs your gift loses.
Look, the bible is not shy about saying you are gifted. Everyone is gifted. Everyone is good at something.
You might not be the best in the world at that something but you’re still good at it. And its okay to admit that. Really, its okay. I know its painful but give it a try starting here...
