What is the first word that comes to your mind when you read this question...

What does God want the most from you?

Before you keep reading, please take a minute to really think of an answer to that question.

Hint 1: Although it can be argued that Jesus is an acceptable response to every biblical or spiritual question, the answer to this question is not Jesus. But nice try :)

Hint 2: What God wants the most from you is NOT...

To obey him
Or serve him.

What he wants the most from you is NOT....

Your allegiance.
Or your worship.
Or your money.
Or your effort.

Don't get me wrong, all those things are great but when Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was [what God wants most from us] he did not say any of those things above.

He also did not say all the commandments are equally great so do them all.

No.

He actually said what the greatest of all the commandments was meaning there is something that God does want from us more than anything else.

And that something Jesus says is to;

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind"

To put it simply, what God wants the most from you is you.

Your heart.
God wants you to love him.

I'll be honest, that's not a natural bent for me.

I'm more inclined to believe what God wants the most from me is my obedience, which is probably why I struggle with believing that God is pleased with me when I'm not hitting home runs.

I love to earn my keep by giving God plenty of obedience.
Preach sermons.
Disciple.
Blog.
Fight for Social Justice.
Dream big dreams.

Working. Working. Working.

All good things, but also all things I can do without giving God my affection.

Regardless of where you are today spiritually please be reminded that what God is really after is you.

He wants you.
Your love.
Your heart.
Soul.
Mind.
Strength.

He wants all of you.

I'm a worker bee but I desperately want to be a lover bee.
