Why it matters to you that Jesus battled with sexual temptation Part 2.

Aug 11 2011

15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Hebrews 4:!5

Jesus was tempted in every way just as we are and YET he did not sin.

That my friends is tremendously GOOD NEWS in our battle against sin.

Because Jesus overcame sin, we CAN (in Him) overcome any kind of sin regardless of its nature, history or power.

I know. I know. You’re not Jesus. And you’re not perfect. Never will be on this side of eternity.

I get that. But in light of that reality, the bible still says (and this changes everything)...

We are no longer slaves to sin.

We used to be slaves to sin. Unable to control its hold over us. Falling for its every whim. Addicted with no hope.

But not anymore.

Because of Christ, we are no longer slaves to sin.

Sin no longer has power over us. We no longer ‘have to’ do that or go there because we are free.

So, contrary to what you tell yourself...

Contrary to your tainted history.
Contrary to your past.
Contrary to what you did in the dark yesterday.
Contrary to your deep, dark secret.
Contrary to what your ex and parents say.
Contrary to what you think.
Contrary to the consequences you’re suffering.
Contrary to how many times you’ve done that thing you vowed to never to do again.
Contrary to your track record...

If you are in Christ, you are no longer a slave to sin.

Jesus didn’t just come to pay our sin. He came to set us free from our sin. AND HE DID.

Ok, so I’m gonna do something I’ve never done before on this blog. I’m gonna share an image I think God just showed me.

I’m not one to be quick to say ‘God told me’ but as I edit this post, I literally feel like I want to scream as loud as I can. I can’t hold it in so I’m just gonna say it. As I wrote this...

"I saw an image of a chained person sitting with their head slumped down. I could literally feel the despair and hopelessness in their eyes. The only hope left was heaven. Somebody I’ll be free... in heaven. Whoever this is really doesn’t believe that freedom is possible from _____. You’re pretty sure you’ll always be a slave to _______. You’ll always struggle with _______."

I don’t know who you are but if I could right now, I would get in your face, grab you and scream FREE!

FREE!

YOU ARE FREE.

Look! your chains are broken. Your chains are broken. I know your chains are still around your ankle but look! they have been broken.

YOU ARE FREE.

YOU ARE FREE FROM ALL THAT HELD YOU.

JESUS HAS SET YOU FREE.

Your freedom is as real as the resurrection of Jesus.

YOU ARE FREE. WE ARE FREE.

I am free. Do you believe it? Do you want to believe it? Then say it with me.

I AM FREE.
